Brian Hardy

Like many others Brian came across a copy of Hot Rod magazine, the year was 1960. By the time he was 17, and having passed his driving test, he was keen to build an American style hot rod.

As luck would have it through friends of friend he was offered a '32 Cabriolet. Sadly the car was missing some parts and the engine was seized. Never the less his young determination didn't stop him. By 1964 the car was built into a hot rod and in regular use. Brian tells the story of how he was constantly working on various engine problems the whole time to keep it on the road. In 1965, while street racing an E-type Jag' he stripped 2nd gear. He felt that the car needs a different type of gearbox and it was suggested that a Jag gearbox would be the trick. A lot of work was needed and he managed to do most it but by May 1965 that work had come to a standstill. The car was put to one side and forgotten about. By the 70's Brian decided to let the car go and it was sold on. The car still exists although it has been put back to original Ford factory spec and has a different number plate.
