Jeff Beck

World renowned guitarist Jeff Beck had always had an interest in American hot rods from an early age. With a USA tour with the band The Yardbirds in the 60's he had seen them first hand and wanted one.

Sometime later, when he had left the Yardbirds and become a solo artist, he toured the USA. In Boston he saw a hot rodded model T for sale, he bought it and shipped it back to his home in Sussex, England. But what really interested him was the 1932 Ford and that love of '32's lasted all his life.

Jeff started with a '32 British Tudor sedan and over years he continued to find American '32's and ship them back to England. Weather they were stock or had already been hot rodded Jeff would put his mark on them to make them his own, doing as much of the work himself as possible. Roadster, sedan, and coupes the list is endless and far too long to list.

Super Prune was an American show car owned by Phil Kendricks and was painted orange. At some point before Jeff bought the car it was repainted in the light yellow pearl as shown in the photo. Jeff sold the car in the mid 80's and it was shipped to California. It is now in the hands of Joey DeMarco who is restoring it back to the orange version. In 2022 Jeff was seen driving a similar '32 in the style of the original orange Kendricks car.

The 'Graffiti' look alike is still in Jeff's collection. No info on the flamed black coupe, but Jeff was seen with several 5w's one of which may have been that car with a different look. The original black sedan that he hot rodded could still be in Jeff's collection although with a different plate number as the RH 9109 plate now resides on a Nissan diesel car.

His early cars were a feature in Custom Car's January 1972 issue.

Jeff's fame as a guitarist and his love of the '32 gives him an important role in the early years of British hot rodded '32's.
