Dennis Swift

In the mid 60's Dennis was just 17 years old living in Loughton, Essex and was hot rod mad. After looking in scrap yards he finally found a '32 Cabriolet advertised in a weekly paper known as 'The Exchange and Mart' priced at £60 which he purchased.

The car was running and registered but lacking the fabric roof, had a cracked windshield, missing parts of the floor and no muffler. It was a French LHD model with just a 4 cylinder motor and yellow Marchal headlights.

The first thing he done was to remove the body and fit a flathead V8 and matching gearbox. Hydraulic brakes from a later Ford were added plus some steel wheels. The chassis and body got rubbed down and primed and the wheels and suspension parts all got chromed.According to Dennis at that point it was 1967 when Geoff Jago contacted him as he wanted to pull a mould off the car. The deal was that Geoff would pick the car up and return it with a Metal Flake paint job. Geoff kept his word and it was returned to Dennis with a blue Metal Flake paint job AND flames.

The car was featured in a local paper and the January '69 issue of 'Hot Car' Dennis got married and moved to Australia and thus had to sell the '32

It's unclear if the car still exists.
