Brian's roadster body was one of the MK1 versions that Geoff Jago made which came just as a shell. He wooded the inside for strength then cut the passenger door out, it was then channel over the chassis. The rear of the chassis was shortened which meant no original style gas tank but Brian did add a chrome rear nerf bar. Power came from a Chevy V8 engine with 'Lake pipe' headers. Bobbed rear fenders and cycle fenders up front completed the look and it was just as an American hot rod should be.
The car was a regular at indoor and out door shows, but not only that, Brian was not afraid to use the car on the drag strip. After many years of use Brian sold it (part exchange for a Trans Am) to Paul Hobby who then painted it black. When Paul sold it the car ended up in the hands of a guy known as 'Pod' from Sheffield. The body was latter replaced with a Vicky glass body and a blower added to the Chey motor. The original body is believed to now be on another car. 'Cherry B' as it was later known, was a cover, feature and road test for the June 1978 issue of 'Hot Car' magazine.
* As a foot note Its worth mentioning that while many names have dropped out of the hobby Brain Lucas has remained faithful to hot rodding to this day and is an NSRA 'Hall of Fame' inductee. He currently owns a tradition '32 flathead roadster.
